Re: classic mam-family xmas
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 10:32 AMit's just wonderful, you say? i'm happy if you're happy, so merry christmas to all!
p.s. it's the last night of hannukah, i'm babysitting/housesitting 3 girls, aged 5-11, and made so many latkes tonight they're coming out of our ears. my mom and sister came over for latkes (and turkey and gravy) and we finished the turkey and ate too many latkes but there are still tons. think i'll skip out on the kids for an hour or so and spread some latke joy with my latke-deprived friends! -

Tue, December 11, 2007 - 10:37 AMdo you make your latkes with shredded or mashed potatoes? -
-
Re: classic mam-family xmas
Tue, December 11, 2007 - 11:08 AMmichelle's latke recipe (there may be better ones but mine are hella good!)
grate your potatoes (preferably red potatoes) or use a food processor to grate them (do not use pre-shredded or mashed potatoes)
add one beaten egg & one grated onion for every 3 large potatoes
add one tablespoon flour for each large potato
add salt & pepper to taste
drain off excess liquid and put mix in freezer for at least 1/2 hour.
deep fry until golden brown on each side and serve fresh with apple sauce and/or sour cream. -

Re: classic mam-family xmas
Fri, December 14, 2007 - 9:35 AMno no and no - yours is absolutely perfect in its irony. i was tempted to use one of jeremy's pictures where he's got mullet head, but i came across this one of him first and i think it's funny that he's all doin' the dance yet somber. michael's equally somber head fits right on the elf-body like it was drawn for it, which is also funny - plus i bet om has more xmas cheer irl than the rest of us, but lisa's i would re-do if i had a pic that fit better. i can't tell you how many times i played this before linking to it here - hehehehehe! the kids i was babysitting all this week were also amused. their parents were in the u.s. on business so i had to play mom and it was crazy! i am full of awe for parents and more confident that i should not have any myself! thanks for entertaining us, mam!
